The guy nearly got killed at an entrance exam, this is a school where combat is part of the classes. Even more so, he isn't even told who the people who might want to kill him in his new school are. Then, he has enough time to go to enjoy his last day of regular school, go to the ninja school and even then, he still has no idea about the most basic suit that ninjas use. is expected to win an transfer entrance exam against people who have actually been trained as ninjas? He gets by only because of an attempt on his life. He is not trained by anyone, not given any advice that might help him (beyond fire release involves fire and water release involves water) and Yet, he is transferred to a ninja school with zero understanding of the politics, the power system or anything else. The threat of the MC's death is portrayed as extremely real, with multiple attempts on his life in the first two episodes. While I understand the versatility of a relatively clueless MC for worldbuilding, the stakes involved here just do not align with the story at all. I am three episodes in and the writing keeps getting worse and worse. Wish they put more thought into the show and had better characters for a show that could have been a unique anime for the season. Like I could have made a better story with just the common knowledge of ninjas as a middle schooler. IDK, I just feel like this was not well-written and too basic. The only stealth or disguise are ninjas pretending to have other jobs. Nothing to do with stealth, missions, techniques, or any of that sort. Instead, it turned into a mecha suit for people who just fight because why the hell not? You can replace the word ninja with fighters and the show would not be any different. PLOT - Had the potential to see how ninjas live in the modern age and show some plot between clans. So I don't feel any real connections with any of the characters And the rest of the characters aren't any better or unique. And, he had the most basic design as well. I can't stand it because well it doesn't feel real and earnest. He was a very common unrealistically nice and innocent personality. Especially the MC, which I find to be the biggest turn-off to a show. rest of the characters have very non-dynamic personalities and designs for the most part. VERY GENERIC - no real interesting characters besides the Kousetsu who has a pretty sick design and a personality that matches the show. The trailer was what introduced me to the anime. I would even give the animation a solid pass (no cgi and doesn't distract you from the show) even though it doesn't compare to the top-budget animes. The show and plot have the potential to be a good anime. And, it is a little disappointing, to say the least. I mean it's about NINJAs so of course, I gave this show at least 3 episodes to get the feel and vibe.
